Iwata anunció que, cuatro meses después de su lanzamient, se podrá jugar con el DS en línea. Nintendo "proverá a los usuarios de un link a otros usuarios a través del país o del mundo", esto de acuerdo con un comunicado de Nintendo. Los dueños de un DS serán capaces de conectarse al servicio en línea que Nintendo ofrecerá gratuitamente (sí, GRATIS), desde cualquier punto usando la conexión inalámbrica del DS. Además, agregó que la infraestructura de los servidores en línea ya estaba lista. En cuanto al Revolution., Iwata confirmó los rumores de que tendría tecnología Wi-Fi que "permitirá a los usuarios alrededor del mundo conectarse con otro inalámbricamente". Con esto, inducimos que Iwata revertirá la política de abstenerse de tener juegos en línea. Además, la nueva consola será compatible con los juegos de GameCube.
